Unique Ab Finisher for Bootcamp Workouts

The looks on their faces were showing fear, resentment, and determination all at the same time. They knew it was coming…

…the “grand finale”… the “strong finish”… call it what you want, but at the end of the day, it’s awesome.

“Alright kids (I would call my campers kids… because it’s hilarious, that’s why), let’s do our metabolic finisher. Today, it’s an Ab Finisher”, I would say to the campers as we start to wrap up the intense metabolic resistance training workout.

Then, we dove right in…

“Alright, we’re going to do this circuit 4 times, resting for just 20 seconds between circuits. Oh yeah, I also forgot to tell you something. I’m awesome”, I would say to the campers.

Then, everyone did this circuit 4 times, resting for 20 seconds, just like the sentence says above… but it was a sneaky way to add more words to this post for Georgette…

That’s how to finish off ANY workout without cardio or back-breaking crunches or sit-ups.


Use that one at the end of your next bootcamp workout and your campers will “love” you for it. I put “quotes” on that sentence because there’s a difference between:


“Love” – as in, I “love” burpees… and

Love – as in, “ I love cookie dough” (and you wonder how I used to be 300 lbs)


Now that we covered that useless info, let’s dive a little more into how to use Ab Finishers.


Finishers are to be done AFTER your main workout and REPLACES long, boring cardio and even intervals. But my favorite part – they can be used as “homework assignments” .


This does several things:


  1. Holds your campers accountable by staying active when they can’t make it to bootcamp or your group training sessions.
  2. It gives them simple solutions for fast workouts for when they travel out of town
  3. If they can’t seem to bust a plateau, you can have them perform these on their off days, although they are designed to at the end of your workouts (I’ve been getting feedback from people who have been using this method with great success).


The best way to really describe an Ab Finisher is using the power of a metabolic finisher and the best ab exercises (that means no crunches or sit-ups) combined into one powerful strategy to burn more fat in less time and work your abs harder.
